In a modern and attractive setting covering 1800 m2, more than 160 objects and models, 25 audio-visual presentations and innumerable photos and documents will immerse you in the history of coal in Lorraine, the daily life of the miner and his family, and the social policies of the mining companies, while shining a spotlight on a few specific professions. Thanks to authentic testimonies playing through audio terminals, visitors can hear about the miners’ daily routine in the pithead entrance hall, the drying-room, the bath-house, and so on. Outdoor information boards enable visitors to understand the history, uses and functions of the pithead buildings.
